License Agreement
License Agreement
This License Agreement (the “Agreement”) governs your use of all products offered by Create UI (“Create UI”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), including the Free Code Library, the Pro Code Library, the Design System, and any future design or code products we release. By downloading, accessing, or using any Create UI product, you agree to the terms below.
Quick version: our Free Code Library is open and free to use, including commercially, under an MIT-style license. Our paid products (Pro Code Library, Design System, and future products) can be used in unlimited personal and commercial projects, including products you sell to clients, but the source files themselves may not be resold or redistributed. The full terms below are what legally apply.
Part A · Common Terms
This Part applies to all Create UI products unless a product-specific section in Part B states otherwise. Where a product-specific section conflicts with these common terms, the product-specific section controls for that product.
A1. Ownership
Except for the Free Code Library (governed by Part B1), all products are licensed, not sold. Create UI retains all right, title, and interest in and to its products, including all intellectual property rights. This Agreement grants you a license to use the products; it does not transfer ownership of the products themselves. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
A2. Your end products
Any application, website, or other end product you build using our products remains yours. Nothing in this Agreement gives us rights over the end products you create, subject to the restrictions below.
A3. General restrictions
Except where a product is explicitly open-licensed under Part B1, you may not:
- Resell, redistribute, sublicense, rent, lease, or give away the product or its source files, whether modified or unmodified, on their own or bundled.
- Make the product source (such as Figma files, components, tokens, or code packages) available for download or access by anyone outside your licensed users.
- Create, distribute, or sell any product that competes with ours, including any design system, UI kit, component library, or template substantially derived from our products.
- Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notice.
- Use the product to train, fine-tune, or develop any machine learning or artificial intelligence model.
A4. Updates
Where a product includes updates, they are provided at our discretion under the same terms as this Agreement. We are not obligated to provide any specific update, feature, or continued maintenance.
A5. Disclaimer & liability
All products are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Create UI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, and our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the product giving rise to the claim.
A6. Termination
Licenses for paid products terminate automatically if you breach this Agreement. On termination you must stop using the affected product and delete all copies in your possession. Sections relating to ownership, restrictions, disclaimers, and liability survive termination.
Part B · Product-Specific Terms
B1. Free Code Library
The Free Code Library is released under an MIT-style open license. You are free to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, and distribute it, including for commercial purposes, and to incorporate it into your own projects and products, free of charge.
The only conditions are that the copyright notice and this permission notice (where provided) are retained in copies or substantial portions of the library, and that the library is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. The general restrictions in Part A3 do not apply to the Free Code Library, except that you may not misrepresent the library as your own original system or remove its attribution where required.
B2. Pro Code Library
The Pro Code Library is a paid, licensed product. Subject to your purchase and this Agreement, you receive a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to:
- Use the Pro Code Library in unlimited personal and commercial projects.
- Modify and build upon its components to create your own end products.
- Use, distribute, and sell those end products, including products and work delivered to clients, with no limit on the number of end users of your end products.
You may not, however, resell or redistribute the Pro Code Library’s source (its components, packages, or code) on its own or in a form that allows others to use it as a component library or design system. The restrictions in Part A3 apply. Seat and user limits follow the license tier you purchased (see B4).
B3. Design System
The Design System (including Figma source files, tokens, styles, and documentation) is a paid, licensed product, delivered with its own LICENSE file. It may be used to design unlimited personal and commercial projects. The Figma source files and their contents may not be resold, redistributed, or shared outside your licensed users. The restrictions in Part A3 apply, and the LICENSE file delivered with your download governs your specific copy.
B4. License tiers (paid products)
| Tier | Who may use it |
|---|---|
| Individual | One (1) named individual. |
| Team | Up to five (5) named individuals within the same organization. |
A “user” or “seat” means a single human being. Sharing or rotating a single seat among multiple people to circumvent these limits is not permitted. Teams larger than five users must purchase additional licenses or contact us.
B5. Future products
Any new design or code products we release will be covered by this Agreement. Unless we state at the point of purchase that a product is open-licensed (like the Free Code Library), it will be treated as a paid, licensed product and governed by the Common Terms in Part A and the relevant tier terms in B4. Where a future product ships with its own dedicated LICENSE file, that file governs that product to the extent it differs from this Agreement.
Order of precedence
If there is a conflict between documents, the following order applies, from highest to lowest: (1) a dedicated LICENSE file delivered with a specific product, (2) the product-specific terms in Part B, (3) the Common Terms in Part A, and (4) our general Terms of Use.
